How and what should I use to take care of my dog’s teeth?

Just like for us humans, the most efficient way to clean your companion’s mouth is to use a soft toothbrush. It is recommended to use a brush designed especially for dogs, as their shape is more adapted to the layout and shape of their teeth. It is important for a good prevention of illnesses that you accustom your dog to brushing from a very young age.

You can use tasty paste containing an antiseptic. Be careful, as it will be swallowed, human toothpaste is strongly discouraged! It could cause gastric problems, amongst other issues.

However, it is not always easy to use these brushes, either because your companion is in pain, or because it is not very patient! Several alternatives exist. You can use a finger cot, plates to chew or specific aliments. However, it is unfortunately frequent for dogs to always chew from the same side…

A tasty gel that does not require brushing also exists. This can be a good solution for dogs that are particularly difficult to handle.
