Why it is necessary to wash my dog’s ears

The shape of your dog’s ear canal is very different from that of a human (see ear structure). Because of that, dirt and cerumen cannot climb the ear duct as easily, which is why it is important to regularly clean your companion’s ears! The accumulation of cerumen in the ear duct bolsters the multiplication of bacteria(?) and yeast, and this can lead to an otitis (inflammation/ infection of the ear).

This is even truer for dogs with drop ears because the canal is less ventilated. These dogs are more prone to otitis.

Finally, it allows you to check that everything is alright, especially when your dogs is scratching its ears!

That you ask yourself about your companion

How and what should I use to take care of my dog’s ears?

When and how regularly should I clean my dog’s ears?

How to choose an ear wash?

When should I see my veterinarian?
