When and how regularly should I clean my dog’s ears?

This depends on the type of dirt inside your dog’s ear, or any existing ear condition, if it scratches, etc. On average, you should be cleaning the ears once to twice a month. If your dog has drop ears, secretions tend to macerate faster because the duct is not ventilated. You hence need to clean them more regularly: once a week to once every fortnight. Finally, if your dog tends to suffer from repeated otitis or produces a lot of cerumen, it is recommended you wash them once to twice a week.
