Digestive disorders

3.3 How should I manage constipation and avoid it returning?

Firstly, it is important to monitor your cat's stool on a daily basis. If your companion suffers from constipation(?), ensure that it is sufficiently active and that it drinks enough water. Provide it with a diet that is sufficiently rich in fibers(?), or directly add some to its food bowl. Psyllium is particularly recommended. There exist several types of laxatives(?) on the market. Be careful, they are not necessarily devoid of risks in long term use! Indeed, some can irritate the digestive tract and induce diarrheas, or pevent the absorption(?) of certain vitamins(?) and nutrients. Fibers such as psyllium have no side effects and can be used on a daily basis, over extended periods.
